We found the process of finding the right university for our son, who initially was also interested in playing university baseball, a complicated one neither of us had experienced. Hilary took control of the whole process, was exceedingly helpful, and made our son accountable for all of the things he was required to do to in order to be properly prepared to apply to U.S. and Canadian universities. Through her considerable efforts, Hilary was able to help our son sort through the many universities available and select those that best fit what he was looking for in a university. He was accepted at all of his universities of choice, and offered merit scholarship. We also found Hilary still very helpful to us even after our son had selected his university. Especially given the level of complication and, sometimes, frustration involved in this process, we are very grateful for Hilary’s guidance.
Working with Ms.Lehn for my admission to University of Pennsylvania was a very helpful experience. She helped me decide on applying to Penn for early decision and to prepare for all requirements. We talked about which advanced courses would make me a competitive candidate, as well as how well I should do on the SAT to be competitive for top universities. Also, she reviewed my admissions essays and gave me final confirmation on whether I was ready to submit them. Her recommendation letters were also an important asset to my admission. Because I had met with her and talked to her consistently all throughout my highschool career, she was very accurate in evaluating my overall performance and suggesting the right university for me. For instance, although I did not feel I had very strong SAT scores, she looked at my overall performance, including my GPA, character, extracurricular activities and passion, and encouraged me to be more confident about applying to competitive universities. The outcome was very positive, as I gained admission to my top choice university, and I am very thankful of all her help..
The very idea of applying to college had always terrified me: it seemed to be riddled with ambiguities and intricate jargon, designed to ensnare us all in endless confusion. Yet, at the same time, nothing excited me more than the prospect of starting the new chapter of my life on a college campus.For the longest time, I had been researching different universities and comparing their relative merits, but every single time I opened up an actual application form my courage failed me and I balked, feeling like I could never navigate this treacherous paperwork–and in any case, what could I ever say about myself that would set me apart from the thousands of other students who were vying for admission to the same program? I feel very privileged that I was fortunate enough to have had Hilary’s patience and expertise at this crucial juncture. Her calm demeanor and down-to earth conversations about my future goals were essential to establishing my confidence in the face of the college application process, and to this day

As parents of a student-athlete we had great angst about our daughter receiving a good education while playing for a Div 1 NCAA team. After various school visits, Ms. Lehn helped our daughter pinpoint the best match for her, guided her through the application process and answered all of our questions along the way. Mrs. Lehn’s knowledge of the schools and their programs was invaluable as we navigated this anxious time. Our daughter ended up in the perfect place for her.

When I started thinking about the university application process, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted and I really had no idea about what was out there. I thought that every university consisted of lecture halls filled with 300 students, and I knew I wouldn’t do well at such a school. Hilary got to know me, and was able to sense what kind of environment would suit me best. She put together a list of schools she thought I might like, and in that list I found my dream school. The campus was a perfect fit, and the small class sizes were the best learning environment for me. My experience at my undergraduate institution helped guide my academic path, and the close bonds I made with professors helped steer me in the right professional direction. I am now pursuing my master’s degree at New York University, and I know I owe my college foundation to Hilary’s expertise and close attention to my needs and learning style. I am so thankful she started me in the right direction and I wouldn’t have had the amazing undergraduate experience I did if it wasn’t for her.
Choosing a university and a program was a rather daunting task. I remember flipping through pages of undergraduate calendars, looking at all of the different programs and wondering which one would be the best fit. With Hilary’s assistance and guidance, I was able to begin to understand the application process and even enjoy it! She was patient and understanding of all my concerns and questions and helped to ease my fears. While considering pretty much every university in Canada, Hilary was able to ask all of the right questions to help me narrow it down, and even make the transition as smooth as possible. In the end, I chose the University of Guelph and it was definitely the right decision!

We believed our son’s school, a reputable private school, would provide personalized guidance to help him develop a comprehensive university plan. When we realized this was not the case, we turned to Hilary. We are so glad we did! During his freshman year in high school, our son wanted to attend university in the UK. Entering his sophomore year, this passion remained but we had little knowledge how to proceed. From understanding a different educational system, to the complexities of applications, we simply needed outside help. We happened upon Hilary Lehn after searching for other families seeking overseas degree study. While several companies and people provide such services, Hilary was the only one with a bespoke model that was child centric. Hilary helped us schedule Adam’s high school coursework to meet foreign academic requirements, while regularly and personally speaking with him about his vision and goals. This led to a short list of UK universities that excelled in his field, and in locations that met his preferences. He has integrated beyond expectations. Adam is engaged and focused on his studies. His grades have been outstanding thus far and his passion for computer science has grown stronger. Swansea is a perfect mix of everything Adam was seeking. He loves Swansea and says “he is living his dream”. It would have been impossible for us to do this alone. Hilary was that sure and steady hand that made our son’s dream a reality at Swansea University.
If you are looking for a college counsellor who will really get to know your kid and guide them through the process, Hilary is it. Her goal is to find the right college environment and help your child get there. She is patient and kind, but also makes it clear that the responsibility for doing the work lies with the child. Hilary’s guidance through the process of international applications in the US and the UK have proven absolutely invaluable. In high school, the idea of international post secondary education was very compelling to me, but I did not expect to follow through for lack of information about next steps. Hilary methodically explained and advised the entire process, from submitting Common App and UCAS submissions to preparing for the SAT and the TSA. Without her breadth and depth of knowledge about the UK process I would not be studying in England right now at the University of Oxford.
